This cast-molded pressurized resin scale model of the Saturn V rocket comes in 1:200 scale and is rendered in fine detail. It includes a display base, and measures 23" high by 6.5" long by 6.5" wide. All parts of the replica are rendered to the scale of its real-life counterpart, adding to its authenticity. Recommended for Ages 12+ The Saturn V was an American man-rated expendable rocket used by NASA's Apollo and Skylab programs from 1967 until 1973. NASA launched 13 Saturn Vs from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida with no loss of crew or payload. It remains the largest and most powerful launch vehicle ever brought to operational status from a height, weight and payload standpoint. The Apollo 11 mission landing of men on the moon was powered by the Saturn V. Completed in three stages, the first stage had the most powerful engines, due to having to lift a fully fueled rocket off the ground. Stage 1 lifted the rocket to an altitude of about 68 kilometers (42 miles), Stage 2 carried it close to orbit, and Stage 3 placed the spacecraft completely into orbit toward the moon. The NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas has one of only three Saturn V rockets on display in the world. The one housed at NASA Johnson Space Center is the only one composed of flight-certified hardware.
