The AH-64 Apache is the world’s most advanced primary attack helicopter. Originally developed by Hughes Helicopters as part of the Army’s Advanced Attack Helicopter Program in the 1970’s, it was later acquired by McDonnell Douglas and since 1997 produced by Boeing. Designed to destroy enemy forces, day or night, even in adverse weather conditions. The AH-64D Apache Longbow is the remanufactured and upgraded version of the AH-64A. Enhancements include longer range weapons accuracy, an integrated datalink system, a state of the art Fire Control Radar (FCR) target acquisition system which can classify and prioritize up to 128 targets in less than a minute, fire-and-forget Longbow Hellfire air-to-ground missile, and a fully-integrated cockpit. The unique Longbow radar dome on top of the AH-64D’s main rotor shaft, can scan, aim and guide its Hellfire missiles from behind trees, buildings and terrain, making helicopter virtually undetected, contributing to its success and survivability. Boeing has delivered more than 2,100 Apaches to customers around the world since the aircraft entered production. The U.S. Army Apache fleet has accumulated (as of Jan 2015) more than 3.9 million flight hours since the first AH-64A was delivered to the U.S. Army in 1984. PS5810-1 Curtiss JN-4 Jenny U.S. Air Mail service (1:100) The JN-4 "Jenny" was a single-engine, 2-seater biplane built by the Curtiss Aeroplane Company as a training aircraft for the U.S. Army. It was widely used during World War I to train new pilots, but it saw a more significant role in aviation history as a mail-carrying airplane in the 1920s. The U.S. Army Air Corps transferred six JN-4H airplanes to the U.S. Post Office Department towards the end of WWI. These Jennys were first to be used on the regularly scheduled Air Mail Service, which operated on a route between Washington DC, Philadelphia, and New York City. On May 15, 1918, airplane ?38262 piloted by Army Lt. George Boyle was the first airplane to fly U.S. mail, ushering in the Post Office's new Air Mail Service. President Woodrow Wilson and other officials were on hand to witness this historic event. The President handed his personal letter of greetings to a very young Army Air Service pilot at Potomac Park polo grounds in Washington, DC, to be flown to the Mayor of New York City, via a relay stopover at Philadelphia, PA. This Die-cast metal airplane model comes in 1:100 scale with plastic stand and is approximately 6 1/4 inches long with 8 inch wingspan. The B-25J Mitchell is a medium bomber named in honor of General Billy Mitchell, a United States Army general who is widely regarded as the father of the US Air Force. The B-25J is a two-engine propeller driven aircraft with an H-tail configuration and is considered to be a safe and reliable aircraft. It was the ultimate evolution of North American Aviation’s versatile medium bomber. "Betty’s Dream" became an icon of the 499th Bomb Squadron, famously recognized by its menacing "bat-out-of-hell" nose art and its role as a lead ship during the Japanese surrender ceremonies. The paint scheme honors Captain Charles E. "Pop" Rice, Jr. of the 501st Bomb Squadron, 345th Bomb Group (the "Air Apaches") who piloted the bomber in 1945. This Postage Stamp Series die-cast model captures the "Betty's Dream" legacy in stunning detail, making it a must-have for history buffs and aviation enthusiasts alike. From the glass-nose bombardier station to the twin-tail configuration, every line stays true to the original North American Aviation design. A heavy-duty, high-quality metal body that provides a premium feel and long-lasting durability. Collectible ages 14+
