HERPA NORWEGIAN AIR SHUTTLE 7378MAX 1/500
Delivered in 2017, Norwegian Air Shuttle named its first Boeing 737 Max, a 737 Max 8, in honor of low-cost pioneer, Sir Freddie Laker, a British airline entrepreneur who founded Laker Airways in the 1960s as one of the first no-frills, low-cost carriers, and whose business model paved the way and was adopted by many successful LCCs over the ensuing decades, including Norwegian Air Shuttle. Recognized by model airplane collectors worldwide for its unparalleled attention to detail and exceptional quality, the die-cast metal, 1/500 scale Norwegian Air Shuttle Boeing 737 Max 8 manufactured by Herpa was developed as a collaborative effort involving Boeing and Norwegian Air Shuttle, and measures approximately 3-inches long with a 2-13/16-inch wingspan. A Display Stand is not included and is sold separately - Herpa HE521024. Having commenced service in 2017 as the fourth generation of the Boeing 737, the Boeing 737 Max is a narrow body airliner that was designed to succeed the prior Boeing 737 Next Generation series and competes with the Airbus A320neo family. The Boeing 737 Max has noteworthy advantages over earlier 737 variants by having been outfitted with more efficient engines, added fly-by wire systems and beneficial cockpit enhancements along with improved aerodynamic changes that include unique split tip winglets and other airframe modifications. The 737 Max 8 can be configured to seat up to 200 passengers and directly replaces the third generation Boeing 737-800. The 737 Max 8 is not only longer and can fly greater distances than earlier 737s, it also has a lower empty weight and greater maximum takeoff weight than the Airbus A320neo.
